He is dedicated to volunteering (has since age 14)! and has volunteered at a variety of organizations, such as Kin Place, Christmas Cheer Board, MADD, Manitoba Geothermal Energy Alliance, Recycling Council, Zora Cup Soccer Tournament organizer and youth soccer coach at Cooks Creek Community Centre, church missions team and many more…
Mark is an energetic 56 years old who has lived in Springfield for over 20 years. Mark and Deanne live on Melrose Road in Ward 3. He is an experienced corporate Executive Director; educated in finance (preparing & scrutinizing budgets, business plans), municipal planning, public administration and environmental planning. He has been educated at: Harvard (2022), U of Wpg. (BA), U St.B and RRC (Political Science, Management, Environment, French). Mark has helped his wife Deanne raise two children into adulthood and was involved in their activities locally at Cooks Creek Community Centre, Springfield hockey, Hazelridge School, SMS and SCI.
He is genuinely interested in helping people and improving our community now and for the future. Mark is respectful to all, diplomatic, and wants to engage Springfield residents on issues between elections with awareness forums. Mark will strive to protect our community & represent you well!

He is aware of past & current municipal issues, has a bright vision for the future and wants to add a positive influence to our Council. Mark has attended & provided input at Council and public hearings since 2002. He has helped raise awareness about their actions on spending, planning, subdivisions and bylaws.

Mark’s approach to politics is to appreciate common sense and cut unnecessary red–tape. He is balanced on the issues – supporting local sport and recreation, seniors, youth, health and safety, streamlining bureaucracy and improving political accountability and transparency. He will seek your input on fiscal and community planning matters.
Mark has actively drafted legislation & knows the process. He supports local entrepreneurship & ingenuity. He also knows the importance of Services for Seniors and supports the idea of a youth member on Council. He will broadly support local organizations and activities as they are central and integral parts of our communities identity.
Mark is eager to work cooperatively with our school division on community issues (i.e. opening schools after hours).
Mark is a specialist in environmental issues.
He knows water protection is critical for all Springfield!
Mark has been a coordinator for MB Earth Day & Climate Change Initiatives, and wants to provide Environmental leadership for Springfield – from water, soil and air protection; commuting depots & energy conservation. He will place a priority on improving our roads and drainage and recognizes the importance of fire protection, possibly in Cooks Creek & Hazelridge, where viable & justified.
